I enjoy cooking. A LOT! If you follow me on Instagram then you’ve probably have seen the Design Your Life cooking show from time to time. A few weeks ago I made a delicious meal for B. One that I will absolutely be making again and I think he would agree. The good thing is that it’s super easy to make and as an entrepreneur that’s important. Can I get an amen!
Alright let’s get cooking.
For this recipe you need a slow cooker because setting it and forgetting it Is my favorite way to cook. It also contains a magical ingredient that I didn’t know existed…Asian 5-spice powder.
1 ½ teaspoons 5-spice powder, you will find this on the spice aisle. I used McCormick
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
1 onion, peeled and quartered
5 cloves garlic, mashed
3 pounds short ribs, beef, preferably grass-fed
1/3 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon honey
In a small bowl, combine the 5-spice powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Place the onion and garlic in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Put the ribs on top of the onion and coat them evenly with the spice mixture. Keeping the ribs on top of the onions helps to keep them out of the juices and fat that will collect at the bottom during cooking.
Turn slow cooker onto LOW and cook for 9 to 10 hours. (No need to add any water or liquid before starting.)
Just before serving the ribs, combine the soy sauce and honey in a small pot on the stove. Bring to a light boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
Carefully transfer the ribs to a serving platter.
I made these with bok choy and fingerling potatos. Simply pull the the bok choy apart and saute in a pan with olive oil. Spread the potato’s on a pan and drizzle with olive oil, pink salt, and pepper. bake for 20-25 minutes or until done.
