Big Changes for DYL!!!!!

This morning I announced the launch of DYL Collection!

This is something I'm so Excited about and have always wanted to do. It took me a while to actually get it out into the world because I went back and forth on if this would really fit into my business. So I just sat with it for awhile....OK a really long while.

Over the last month I've been really trying to figure out what exactly I want DYL to be about and stand for. This all came about after I hired a coach that I'm not exactly agreeing with all that she's telling me to do. One in particular is to stop with the sales funnels, webinars, teachings and just go out and message people that I want to work with but who I feel may not need me.

This has set me on a whirlwind of WTF am I doing. I LOVE the systems and the structures of a business. It's what I'm good at and its what I teach my clients how to do. How can I just stop doing them if it's the very basis of my entire business.

This is where some deep digging started. I don't merely want DYL to be about systems and structures but I want it to be about loving your entire life as a whole. YES building a freedom based business can help with that but what about outside of work?

Do you love your your home, your city, your thoughts,  your relationships and if not are you willing to change that. To look inward and find out what the hell is happening. Why are you sad and blah all the time. Are you ready to do the work and what it takes to overcome and really create a life you love?

These are the things I want DYL to be about not sales funnels or websites. If designing mugs, bags, and home decor is something I enjoy doing then why the hell not add it to my brand? Along with anything else that has to do with lifestyle. It's my business and I can do this any way I want.

That's exactly what I would tell my clients. It's yours do it the way you want to and what feels the best. I was ignoring that feeling myself. I was afraid that by running the coaching side and running a membership that also running products would all be too much. It didn't feel too much but what wold everything think or say?

That's the problem we often over analyze things to the core and are afraid of how it might look when really nobody cares and the people that love you already and love what you're putting out are truly the only ones that matter.

I want for Design Your Life to be a testament as to what's possible. That if you have a dream or an idea you can make it possible.

XoXo, Heather

Show Your Money Respect

This past weekend Robert and I took off to New Orleans. Being able to easily pick up and go is something I've always wanted to be able to do and it excites me that it's possible!

While we were there we toured cemetery no. 1, this particular cemetery is the one where Marie Leaveau is buried along with Nicolas Cage's strange pyramid tomb. Trust me when I say this tour is wildly interesting.

Our tour guide had a safety pin with a about $40 worth of dollar bills pinned to her shirt. This is Crescent City tradition when it's  your birthday to put a safety pin on your shirt so complete strangers can walk up and put money on you. This is a really fun tradition, I have a photo somewhere on the site doing this very thing on my 30th birthday.

Later that night we were talking about the day and Robert said "I don't really like the idea of putting a hole in money."

Before I said anything I let him finish. "I don't want to get money and it have a hole in it"

"Yeah, you have to respect money don't you." was my response.

I was immediately reminded of what Marie Forleo said about walking past money that you see on the ground. She said that she never walks by money she sees without picking it up, even if it's just a penny, because it is literally the universe giving you money and you need to be open to receiving it.

Not to mention if you walk right past a penny because it's simply a penny it's like telling the Universe that you don't really care about money.

I want you to think about how you might be disrespecting money. Do you constantly talk about it in a negative light? Do you always feel that it's hard to come by or constantly stressed by?

If the answer is yes I want to give you a few ways in which you can start to shift that mindset.

1. Sit down and write about your very first memory of money. Was it good or was it bad? Does this have any reflection on your belief of money?

2. When you start worrying about money I want you to repeat "Money is coming to me" or "There is enough money for everything I want." come up with your own mantra if you need to.

3. Is there anything that you can start doing today that can start bringing in money? Could you finally create that opt-in, or run your Facebook ad, create the program that you know your clients need.

Be mindful of your thoughts about money. The negative thoughts hold you back more than you think and you were made for so much great darling

4 Ways to Better Blogging

You've probably have been thinking about starting a blog for some time now or maybe you know that it would be a great addition to your website and help boost your business but sometimes the task can seem daunting. You wonder if anyone is even reading your blog or how do you even grow this thing?! Here are 4 tips to help you blog better.

1. Grow your email list. Be sure you have some sort of free gift or opt-in on your blog (that coincides with what your blog is about) to entice people to sign up. It's like saying here's a free gift in exchange for you email address.

2. Always give a call to action. People want to be told what to do or given the next steps. At the end of each post ask them to comment or like or share or whatever it is you want them to do.⠀

3. Give stuff away. Give away free valuable content that your readers will love. Templates, guides, list- something to get them excited.

4.Be consistent. Decide how often you are going to post and stick to it. Pre-plan your post so it's easier then you can add post in between should things come up that you want to share.⠀

Bonus tip:

If you're struggling to create content for your blog don't be afraid to share what you're doing in your life and behind the scenes.  Also, Go to google and search what your ideal clients might be looking for. What are people in your industry talking about. Take note of this and use it for your content. It's not about copying but about getting ideas and getting your creativity going. You could and should at least post a monthly blog post. Go ahead and pre-plan this out and come up with 12 topics or ideas you can post for 2017.
